The Janis Tompkins Fund

This year, CKBY celebrates 50 years of playing Country Music in Ottawa & the Valley.

As we prepare to celebrate throughout this year, you will see a charity campaign attached to all we do.  This is not only because we believe in giving back but because we also believe in family.

Janis Tompkins was a vibrant and integral part of CKBY for almost 2 decades before her sudden passing last Spring.  She was a fierce member of the Ottawa Valley community, especially in the town of Carleton Place where she and her sons lived.

Janis was a passionate supporter of the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation and was working with them on fundraising for the hospital’s new Emergency Room before she passed.  One of her goals was to work with our Rogers stations to amplify the hospital’s message and help meet their goals.

Janis would have been a HUGE part of our 50th anniversary celebrations so we’ve decided to carry on her mission and make the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation the recipient of our fundraising efforts for our 50th year in Janis’ name.  Our goal is to raise funds and make an impact in her honour, the way she did on so many of us at CKBY and in the Ottawa Valley.
